ICELANDIC WOOL-FILL

Icelandic the wool insulation in the Black Sheep Collection, the OEKOTEX-100 is quality certified and unique worldwide, but the properties of the Icelandic wool are undeniably unique, as it has long ensured Icelanders warmth and comfort in ever-changing conditions. Ever since the Vikings settled in Iceland and brought livestock with them, Icelandic sheep have roamed freely in the mountains and fjords of the country. During this time, she has developed a unique ability to survive in the harshness. The wool has a double layer called traction and envelope, while the wool consists of shorter and coarser hairs on the inside which retains the heat well along with longer hairs on the outside that are water resistant and perform the function of keeping them dry in rain as snow.

Icewear from Iceland since 1972

Icewear has a long tradition of producing wool clothing, starting out as a little wool knitting factory in the early 1970s. The traditional way of working with yarn gave them great knowledge of Scandinavian compositions, and living in Iceland allowed them to test and develop outdoor apparel especially for colder climates.
